LEBANON RELIEF PROJECT

OUR CAUSE

Lebanon is in the midst of catastrophic political and economic crises. The August 4th explosion at the Port of Beirut left an estimate of $4 billion in damages while over 50 percent of the population slips into poverty, the Lebanese pound plummets, and hospitals struggle to keep up with the influx of patients due to COVID-19. Beirut lost six months’ worth of medicines stored at the port with this explosion. Yet in spite of a badly damaged port, our airlifts extended a lifeline to Beirut hospitals in their crippling moments.

After the port blast, the Ghassan and Manal Saab Foundation and the American Task Force on Lebanon (ATFL) began a national coordinated effort to airlift medical and pharmaceutical supplies and equipment to Lebanon. Our approach focuses on sending urgently needed medicines and medical supplies to Lebanon's hospitals by coordinating with experienced NGOs like Anera, Afya Foundation, and Direct Relief, in addition to US government agencies.

Thanks to the generous hearts of so many, we succeeded in airlifting more than $50 million of needed medications, medical supplies and equipment to Beirut in the aftermath of the devastating explosions.
